POS Shift Profile
Introduction
POS Shift Profile in iVendNext stores all the settings pertaining to your Till Setup. For example, you can specify the Float Amount, the Variance Allowed, etc.
To access the POS Shift Profile, go to: Home > Retail. Then under the Settings & Configuration section click on the POS Shift Profile shortcut.
1. Prerequisites
Before creating and using the POS Shift Profile, it is advisable to create the following first:

2. Steps to create a new POS Shift Profile
The steps to create a new POS Shift Profile are explained below:
Navigate to Home > Retail. Then under the Settings & Configuration section click on the POS Shift Profile shortcut to open the POS Shift Profile List View screen.
Click on the Add POS Shift Profile button. This will open the New POS Shift Profile screen. Fill in the required information including the mandatory fields on the New POS Shift Profile screen. All the mandatory fields are marked with red asterisks.
Once you have filled in the required information including the mandatory fields on the New POS Shift Profile screen, click the save button to save the data and exit the screen. The New POS Shift Profile that you have created will be listed on the New POS Profile Screen.
3. POS Shift Profile Creation Screen
The various fields on the POS Shift Profile Creation Screen are explained below:
Field | Description |
Code | Specify the POS Shift Code. |
Description | Specify the POS Shift Description. |
Disabled | Check this box, if you want to disable the POS Shift Profile. A disabled POS Shift Profile cannot be assigned to a user or Team. |
Float Amount | Displays the starting amount assigned to the shift session. The user cannot enter the starting amount directly in this field and would need to go to the Till Count screen by clicking on the Till Count button. |
Variance Rate Type | The variance rate specifies the permissible rate of variance between the system count and the physical count of the till amount. Select amount or percentage type of variance rate as required. |
Variance Allowed | Enter the value of variance allowed between the system and physical amount. |
Show System Count | Select the option if the amount as per the system count needs to be displayed on the Till Count screen. If this option is selected, the variance between the system count and the actual count is also displayed in the Till Count Screen. |
Count Required on Shift Close | Select from the list of options to specify whether the shift count is mandatory, or optional when the till is closed. |
Warning Interval | Enter the amount for the warning interval. If the interval is set to $100 for a warning level of $1000, the system will warn the user for every $100 being added to $1000. |
Warning Level | Enter the amount, which is the upper limit of the cash for the particular till. This is the tipple point beyond which the system starts giving a warning message. For example, if the warning level is set to $1000, the system will give a warning message if the amount exceeds $1000. If the user does not want a warning message, he can set the value in the field as 0. |
Lock Out Level | Enter the amount for lock out level. This field specifies the amount beyond which the POS gets locked and no transaction can be done unless a manager override is done. If the user does not want the POS to be locked, he can set this value as 0. |

4. POS Shift Profile Implementation
The following steps will help you implement a POS Shift Profile:
Access iVendNext POS
Navigate to Home > Retail. Click on the iVendNext POS shortcut. This will take you to the POS screen.
Select the POS Terminal
In case you have multiple POS Terminals mapped to your Store you will see a drop down list to select your POS Terminal from.
Specify the POS Opening Amount
You will have to manually specify the POS Opening Amount in case you haven’t specified any value in the Float Amount field. Use the Denomination Details table field to specify the currency Count. Specifying a value in the Count Field column will automatically populate the Opening Amount field with the currency amount. In case you have already specified the FLoat Amount, the Opening Amount would be prefilled and would be non-editable.However, you will still have to use the Denomination Details table field to specify the currency Count.
Select the Cash Drawer
In case you have selected the option for multiple cash drawers you will see a drop down list to select your Cash Drawer from. The application will give you the option to select from multiple cash drawers only when the checkbox “Has Multiple Cash Drawers” is ticked. You will find this option under POS Terminal.
Start Selling
Click the Start Selling button. This will take you to the POS screen. The POS screen will display the User Id, the Store ID, and the POS Profile in the footer.
Perform Transactions
Perform a few transactions. Performing a Quick Sale involves a few key steps. Here's a simplified guide to help you get started:
Add Item(s)
Select the Customer
Click the Quick Cash button to complete the transaction
Close POS
Click the Close POS tile to record the POS closing entry. The application will come up with a notification popup.
Click the Yes button. This will close the POS screen and bring up the Shift Count screen.
Perform a Shift Count
You will have to select each row individually and specify the count value. Select a row and click on the Count button. This will open the Tender Count Screen.
The Shift Count Grid screen contains the below information:
Mode of payment
Opening Amount
System Amount
Amount
Variance
Count
Specify the count in the Denomination Details Table on the Tender Count Details screen.
Click the Update button once you have specified the currency count. This will update the amount on the Shift Count screen against that tender type. Similarly count the other tender types.
Print Shift Count Receipt
Click the Close Shift button to close the shift. You should see a confirmation pop up.
Click Yes to proceed with the Shift Count Receipt print.
