Setting up an optical store

Optical · checked 2026-10-24

This guide takes a optical store from the first conversation to a live store. An iVendNext partner in your region usually runs these steps with you. A team with its own developers can run them itself. iVendNext gives the product, the apps and a guide at every step.

Check the fit

Put your own list of requirements against the app in Optical on iVendNext. What the app meets unchanged is ready. The rest is set-up or an extension.

Set up the shop

Set up stores, tills, prices and users as you would for any retailer. Then link your ERP: iVendNext connects to SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA, Acumatica, NetSuite and Sage X3, and your partner connects any other ERP with the partner kit. For Acumatica and WooCommerce, see the Integration Core guide.

Make it optical

Add frames with their colors and sizes. Make item groups for frames, spectacle lenses, contact lenses and solutions. Add your labs as suppliers, and set up the people who write prescriptions and the people who read them.

Set up the hardware

Put scanners at each counter. Connect cash drawers, receipt printers and customer displays with Counter hardware, and add a printer for the job sheets. Try your own hardware with your partner before you go live.

Install the app

Install Optical prescriptions and lab orders from the App library. Mark your lens groups, and switch the lens rule on for your optical tills. The guide has the steps.

Load your data

Load items with their barcodes, customers and their current prescriptions, and the lab jobs still open.

Train your staff and go live

Go live store by store: optometrists, dispensing staff, cashiers and store managers.

Day to day

Your partner supports what it delivers. iVendNext supports the product. The daily work at the till is in iVendNext POS, starting with Starting your day.
