Set up bin locations in this order: the warehouses, then locations, aisles and bins, then a default bin for each item. Install the app first from the App library (see About Retail Extensions).
Before you start
Make sure a Warehouse exists for each back room or shop floor you want to describe, and for each store (search Desk for Warehouse). A location points at the warehouse where its stock is booked and at the store it serves.
Locations
A location is a back room or a shop floor. Open the IVENDNEXT BLN Bins page in Desk and choose Locations, then Add:
- Location: its name. Names are unique.
- Kind: Back room or Shop floor.
- Warehouse (where the stock is booked): the warehouse that holds its stock.
- Store it serves (the till's selling warehouse): the store's warehouse.
Aisles
An aisle belongs to one location. Search Desk for IVENDNEXT BLN Aisle (the page has no shortcut for it) and press Add: its Aisle name, which is unique, and its Location.
Bins
A bin belongs to one aisle. On the IVENDNEXT BLN Bins page choose Bins, then Add: the bin's Bin code, which is unique, and its Aisle. The bin's Location fills itself from its aisle.
A default bin for an item
Open an item and fill Default bin (bin locations). The item list can be filtered on it, so you can see which items live in a bin.
Printing bin labels
A bin has a label layout, IVENDNEXT BLN Bin Label, meant to print the bin's code, aisle and location. Choosing it from a bin's print menu shows the error Module IVENDNEXT BLN not found. Print the bin with the standard print format instead, or write the code on the shelf by hand. See Troubleshooting.
