Mobile POS

The iVendNext Mobile POS turns a phone or tablet into a till on your shop floor. It runs on the same system as the registers at your counters, so a sale made on the floor and a sale made at a counter both post to the same place.

To open it, go to your store's web address in the device's browser:

Your store address > Add to Home Screen > iVendNext Mobile POS

What is a Mobile POS

It is a web app that installs to a device's home screen. There is no app store, and there is nothing to download and update on each device. The store's own web address is the app.

Three things follow from that:

  • It installs without an app store. You add it from the browser, and it gets its own tile and opens full screen.
  • It stays usable when the connection drops. Once a device has connected successfully at least once, it opens without a connection instead of showing a browser error. It can also keep selling through an outage, on set conditions. See Working Offline.
  • What each person can do is granted by a manager, not built in. The screen shows only the actions that person has permission for. When a manager grants another one, it appears on the screen, with nothing to install.

What you can do with it

  • Sell: scan or search for items, handle variants, sets (called Bundles in iVendNext Desk), weighed items, and serialized or batch-tracked stock, and edit the basket.
  • Take payment: cash, a card payment recorded on your bank's terminal, gift card, store credit, loyalty, on account, split tender, and layaway deposits.
  • Run the till day: claim a till, count cash, and open and close your trading day.
  • Give a receipt: print it, or send it by email or SMS, including a gift receipt and a reprint.
  • Serve customers: attach a customer, read loyalty, and create or edit a customer record.
  • Handle returns and exchanges, pricing and promotions, and orders and fulfillment, each within the permissions the person has.
