A record link says which record in the other system is which record in iVendNext: the other system's ID in Connected System on one side, an iVendNext record on the other. The connection makes most links as it syncs, and they are read-only.
The Record Links list
Open it from the Hub's Advanced card. Each row's chip reads Linked, Linked by a person or Inactive. Someone who may edit a connection also sees Link manually here.
The link
Every field is set by the system.
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Connection | the connection this link belongs to; two shops never share links |
| Record Type | the kind of record |
| ID in Connected System | the other system's ID for the record |
| Parent ID in Connected System | for a variant, the other system's ID for its parent product |
| Last Synced On | when a sync last wrote this link |
| Last Change in Connected System | the last change applied from there; an older change arriving later is ignored |
| Reference Record Type · Reference | the iVendNext record it is linked to |
| Created By | Auto (the sync made it) or Manual (a person made it; syncing never overwrites it) |
| Active · Made Inactive On · Made Inactive By | an inactive link is no longer used, but kept; Made Inactive By names the person only when someone pressed Make inactive |
| Several Links Allowed | an iVendNext record may link to several records in the other system; fixed when the link is made |
The banner names the link (Record link: …) and, on a link a person made, says that syncing will not overwrite it.
Technical details
Folded away, for support: Content Check Value and Content Check Version (they tell whether the linked record changed since it was last synced) and Record Format Version.
Link a record by hand
Use this when a record waits because no link exists yet between the other system's record and an iVendNext record.
- On the Record Links list, press Link manually.
- Choose the Connection, the Record Type (only the types that connection handles), the ID in Connected System, the iVendNext Record Type and the iVendNext Record, and press Link them.
- Check both IDs before you confirm. A link a person made is never changed by syncing — if it is wrong, it stays wrong.
- Retry the waiting record on Integration Activity. Linking does not retry it for you.
Only someone who may edit the connection sees Link manually, and you also need permission to change that iVendNext record. A record type switched off under the connection's Handled Record Types cannot be linked by hand.
Make a link inactive
Linked the wrong record by hand? Open the link, press Make inactive, and link it again. The button shows on a link a person made, while it is active, to someone who may edit its connection and the iVendNext record. An inactive link is kept, not removed, so its history stays readable.
Deleting a linked record
An iVendNext record another system is linked to cannot be deleted: the other system will keep sending changes for it, and making the link inactive does not change that. Disable the record instead. To merge two linked records, make one link inactive first, then merge. Call support if the record really must go.
