A gift card is a prepaid amount a customer can spend at your stores. The till sells a gift card like any other item, and the receipt shows the card's number. A gift card carries a specific amount of money that can be used at the Store to make purchases.
A gift card is either System Generated or User Defined. It pays for part or all of a sale at the till.
Every Gift Card issued in iVendNext carries a unique number and depending on the customer's preference, can either be redeemed partially or in full.
Sell a Gift Card
The steps involved in selling a Gift Card are no different than selling an item on the POS.
The cashier sells a gift card on the till as a normal item. A card created at the moment of sale gets its number then. The number prints under its line on the receipt, and the receipt is the only place the customer learns it. See Receipts and Fiscal.
A gift card cannot be bought with a gift card or with store credit. The cashier settles that sale with a card or on account. See Balance-backed Tenders and Cash and Card. To record the sale against a customer, see Attaching a Customer.
