Fetching Values From Master

Scenario

You want a value from a linked record to fill in when you pick the link.

Example

Say you have a Custom Field VAT ID (vat_id) on Customer and on Sales Invoice. You want the value to update every time you pick a Customer in a Sales Invoice.

To set this up, you need no script:

1. Open Customize Form for Sales Invoice in Desk and find the VAT ID field.
2. In Fetch From, enter customer.vat_id. The first part is the link field on the form. The second part is the field to copy from the linked record.
3. Save.

When you pick a Customer on a Sales Invoice, the VAT ID fills in from that Customer.
