You can use an App or a Rule from the App library without changes, or you can have a partner change it for your shop. This page says what you can change yourself, what a partner changes, and how the changed app reaches your site. For the partner's side, see Publish your app at developer.ivendnext.com.
What you can change yourself
Every App and Rule has things you set in Desk, such as a plan in Customer-owned loyalty, a bin in Bin locations or a rule in Till guard rules. You do not need a partner for these. Each app's page says what to enter. Apps and Rules says what each kind adds.
What a partner changes
A partner changes what the app does. For example, a partner adds a field, a check or a layout, or changes a step. The partner starts from the app's own sample in the iVendNext Partner Kit and changes it. The partner gives the changed app its own name. The name starts with the partner's own first word, so it never clashes with the original, which keeps its name.
How the changed app reaches your site
- Ask your partner for the change. If you have no partner, ask iVendNext through Help.
- The partner publishes the changed app to your own shelf, called Made for you. Only your site sees this shelf. An app made for one customer needs no approval by CitiXsys.
- The partner sends you a shelf key. In Desk, open the App library page. At the foot, next to Have a shelf key?, press Open your shelf. Paste the key.
- Find the app on your shelf. Install it like any other app: read what it will change, accept, and press Install. See Installing and updating.
- When your partner publishes a new version, the card on your shelf reads Version and the number, then is ready. Press Update.
What to know first
- A changed app is a different app from the original. Ask your partner whether to remove the original first, so that a screen does not show twice.
- A site has one shelf key. If another company's shelf key is pasted on your site, it replaces yours. Your installed apps keep working, but their updates wait until your key is pasted again.
- Remove, on your shelf, makes your site forget the shelf key. The apps stay installed, and their updates stop until you enter a key again.
- An app that needs a service hosted by CitiXsys cannot connect itself when it comes from your shelf yet. You give the app this site's secrets by hand, and your partner tells you how. The app's record says so in Hosted app. An app from the public App library connects itself.
