A gift card is a prepaid amount a customer can spend at your stores. The till sells a gift card like any other item, and the receipt shows the card's number. A gift card carries a specific amount of money that can be used at the Store to make purchases.
A gift card is either System Generated or User Defined. It pays for part or all of a sale at the till.
Every Gift Card issued in iVendNext carries a unique number and depending on the customer's preference, can either be redeemed partially or in full.
Redeem the Gift Card Balance
A gift card pays for a sale at the till. It can pay together with other payment methods in the same sale.
Depending on the customer's preference, a Gift Card can either be redeemed partially or in full. Partial redemption means that you are using a portion of the gift card balance and saving the remainder for future purchases. Full redemption means that you are exhausting the entire monetary value of the card.
A card whose item does not have Allow Multiple Redemptions switched on can pay for one sale only. The app refuses it for a second sale. The customer redeems a card at a store. The cashier enters the card's number as the payment, and the app takes the amount from the card's balance.
Steps to Redeem Gift Cards
The cashier redeems a gift card on the till, as a payment on the sale. The app checks the card against your back office record before any money moves. Read Balance-backed Tenders for the rules the cashier meets.
To pay the rest of the sale with another method, the cashier splits the payment. See Split Tender and Layaway.
The new Gift Card Balance after Partial Redemption is: $350
