Setting up a supermarket
Grocery · checked 2026-10-24
This guide takes a supermarket from the first conversation to a live store. An iVendNext partner in your region usually runs these steps with you. A team with its own developers can run them itself. iVendNext gives the product, the apps and a guide at every step.
Check the fit
Put your own list of requirements against the apps in Grocery on iVendNext. What the apps meet unchanged is ready. The rest is set-up, or something your partner or your own team builds.
Set up the shop
Set up stores, tills, prices and users as you would for any retailer. Then link your ERP: iVendNext connects to SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA, Acumatica, NetSuite and Sage X3, and your partner connects any other ERP with the partner kit. For Acumatica and WooCommerce, see the Integration Core guide. WooCommerce links your web shop.
Make it a supermarket
Give fresh items lots and expiry dates. Set the barcode layouts your scales print, your shelf and item label layouts, and the pick order to earliest expiry. Make a clearance store for short-dated stock.
Set up the hardware
Put scanners and label scales at each lane and fresh counter. Connect cash drawers, receipt printers and customer displays with Counter hardware, and give each kiosk a tablet. Try your own hardware with your partner before you go live.
Install the apps
Install Expiry markdown, the Age-restricted sale check, the Price-checker kiosk and Bin locations from the App library. Your partner installs and hosts Expiry and recall for you. Each guide has its own set-up steps.
Load your data
Load items with their units and barcodes, lots with their dates, the markdown steps and ages on your item groups, and your bins with what is in them.
Train your staff and go live
Go live store by store: cashiers, the fresh departments, the stockroom and store managers.
Day to day
Your partner supports what it delivers. iVendNext supports the product. The daily work at the till is in iVendNext POS, starting with Starting your day.
