Price-deviation audit

Retail Extensions · App · checked 2026-10-18

Price-deviation audit records every sale line charged below its list price by more than your threshold, so a store manager can review it in Desk. This page covers what the app adds, how to set it up, where the deviations show, and how to remove it.

What it does

The cashier rings the sale as before. Nothing changes at the till, and no sale waits for the app. Usually within a minute after a sale books, the app compares each line's price with its price-list rate. A line sold below that rate by more than your threshold is recorded as a deviation: one record per sale line, never two.

The app checks till sales (POS Invoice) and sales invoices. A return is checked only for the items it sells, as in an exchange; an item handed back is never checked. The day's roll-up of till sales into one invoice is not checked, because the app already checked its lines.

What you set up first

  1. Install the app from the App library (see About Retail Extensions). The install adds the role IVENDNEXT PDA Integration, with no one in it.
  2. In Desk, search for Role Permissions Manager. Give the role IVENDNEXT PDA Integration Read on POS Invoice and Read on Sales Invoice.
  3. Make a user for the app. Tick Is Desk User, give it that role alone and save. Then generate its API key: on the user, open Settings and press Generate Keys.
  4. Search Desk for Registered Application and open IVENDNEXT PDA Feed. Choose the app's user as its Application User, tick POS Invoice and Sales Invoice, and save. Sales booked before this are not checked.
  5. In the App library, find the app under Installed and press Details. On the app's record, press Connect again. The record then says that it sent the API key of the app's user.
  6. To use a threshold other than 10, a System Manager makes the settings record (below).

Settings

Search Desk for IVENDNEXT PDA Settings and press Add. Keep Default as its Title: the app reads only the record with that title. Set Threshold, the percentage below the list price that counts as a deviation. With no record, the threshold is 10. A change applies to the sales checked after it, usually within a minute. Only a System Manager can make or change this record.

Where it shows

The app adds no till key and no till screen. Everything is in Desk, for the System Manager and Retail Manager roles.

Deviations

Search Desk for IVENDNEXT PDA Deviation. Each record shows the sale, its date and till profile, the item, the quantity, the list price, the price charged, the percentage below list, the threshold used and the pricing rules on the line. Open the report IVENDNEXT PDA Deviations Largest First (the list's Report view) to see the largest percentages first. It lists every deviation, so narrow it by date in the filter bar. The number card IVENDNEXT PDA Deviations counts them.

What leaves your shop

The app's service runs at price-audit.ivendnext.app, hosted by CitiXsys. After the install, and when you press Connect again, your site sends the service its address, the app's key from the App library, and the API key of the app's user. With that key the service reads each booked sale and return from your event feed. It reads the whole sale, which includes the customer's name and, where you keep them, their tax ID, phone, email, address and loyalty points, and the cashier's user (their email address). It keeps none of that. It reads your settings record and writes only the deviation records.

Limits

  • A sale made offline is checked when the till syncs.
  • The threshold applies to every store. One shop has one threshold.
  • The app checks each line's own price. A discount on the whole sale, and an item with no list price, are not checked.
  • A canceled or amended sale keeps the deviations it was given. The app does not remove them.

How to remove it

  1. In the App library, find the app under Installed and press Details.
  2. On the app's record, press Export and uninstall and confirm. iVendNext first exports the deviation records to a file, and tells the service that the app was removed.
  3. iVendNext removes the settings, the deviation records, the report, the number card, the feed and the role.
  4. Make a new API key for the app's user, or disable the user, so the key the service had stops working.
