Sync Positions

Integration Core · checked 2026-10-15

A sync position says how far a connection has read the other system's changes, or sent ours: one per connection, record type and direction. A connection adds its positions when it starts syncing. They are read-only on purpose: a position moved by hand would skip every change in between, silently.

The Sync Positions list

Open it from the Hub's Advanced card. Each row's chip reads:

  • Skipped something unresolved (red) — the position moved past a record that has not been settled (Safety Net).
  • Confirms each record — the other system confirms each record instead of moving a position, so this one does not move.
  • Never moved — the connection has not written this position yet.
  • Moved … — when the connection last wrote it.

The position

Field What it is
Connection · Record Type · Direction whose position this is: Inbound tracks changes coming in, Outbound changes going out
Position how far the connection has got, in the sending system's own terms
Position Type whether the position is a time (Datetime), an ID (Id) or neither (Opaque)
Time Zone Used the time zone the position is read in, when it is a time
Position Last Written when the connection last wrote here. A quiet spell is not a stall: a shop with no changes writes nothing
Confirms Each Record Instead ticked where the other system confirms each record instead, so this position will not move

Safety Net

Field What it is
Move Past Failures ticked, the connection moves past a record that failed and carries on; cleared, it asks the connection to stop at a failure. Not every connection can stop
Skipped Record a record the position moved past that is still open, or was settled in the last hour
Times Moved Past a Skipped Record counts moves, not records; it stops counting while Move Past Failures is cleared

When the position has moved past a record that is still open, the banner says so and offers Open the skipped record. Retry that record to close it; until then the position is ahead of it, so later changes are being taken while it is still outstanding.

Only a System Manager can change Move Past Failures and Confirms Each Record Instead. Leave both as the connection's setup made them unless its support asks you to change them.
