Editing the Basket

Open any line in the basket to change its quantity, change its selling unit, add a note, or remove it. This opens the line editor, one basket line up close. Tracked items also capture their detail from here, which is covered in Selling Tracked Items.

Changing the quantity

Use the quantity stepper on the line to raise or lower the quantity. If a quantity does not fit the units the item is handled in, the app refuses it. It then shows you the quantity it can accept, so you can see that the refused number is not the one you typed.

Changing the selling unit

Open the line and change its unit to another unit the item actually carries, for example from a single unit to a pack. The app offers only the units set up for that item.

Some lines cannot change their unit, and the app says why. The usual reasons are:

  • The item is sold by weight, so the unit comes from the scale.
  • The item is tracked by serial, so it is sold one unit per line.
  • The line is ordered from another store, so the order keeps its unit.
  • The line is part of a set (called a Bundle in iVendNext Desk), so the set keeps its unit.

Adding a note

Add a short note to a line from the line editor, for anything the sale needs to record against that item.

Removing a line

Remove a line from the basket from the line editor.

Cross-sell offers

When an item has an offer item set up against it, the app offers it alongside the parent. While you have a connection, the offer item is added for you; during an outage it is suggested and you add it yourself. Either way you can leave it out. An offer item is sold with its parent item; it cannot carry offers of its own.

An offer is not shown for a parent that is weighed, serial-tracked, or lot-tracked. For those items, add any companion item yourself.

Prices and discounts

A price change or a discount on a line is worked out by the store's system, within the limits set for the operator. Markdowns, open price, and the approval ladder are covered in Pricing and Promotions.

Your basket is saved

The basket is saved as a draft. It survives the app locking itself, the app being relaunched, and the connection dropping, so an interrupted sale is waiting for you when you come back. The totals are worked out by the store's system, so the numbers on the basket are always the store's own.

Some steps here need a connection. What still works during an outage is covered in Working Offline.
