What iVendNext offers a hardware and DIY chain
Hardware and DIY · checked 2026-11-08
This page lists what a hardware and DIY chain can use in iVendNext today. The format is the Hardware and DIY chain: a chain of home improvement, DIY, garden or building supply stores, each with a floor and, where it has one, a trade counter for contractors. Every store runs the same till, the iVendNext POS at /pos, on a phone, a tablet or a register. The stock team works on iVendNext Handheld, and head office and the buyers work in iVendNext Desk.
Every part below is in the till, in the App library or from iVendNext today. Each part says who uses it, what it rests on and where you can have it. To set the parts up, follow Setting up a hardware store. For the apps a store turns on, see Hardware and DIY on iVendNext.
What you get in a hardware and DIY chain
| What the chain needs | Who uses it | What it rests on | Where you can have it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Each, box and case | Cashier, stock team | An item carries the units it is sold in, with how many of one unit make another. The cashier opens the line and changes its selling unit to another unit the item carries, such as a box instead of a single piece, and a pack's own barcode books the pack. See Editing the Basket. | The till, in every country; units are set up in iVendNext Desk. |
| Cut to length | Cashier | An item stocked in feet sells in a part of a foot, such as rope, chain or wire. The item's unit is set in iVendNext Desk to allow part units, the cashier enters the length on the line, and the till refuses a quantity the unit cannot take. See Editing the Basket. | The till, in every country; the item and its unit are set up in iVendNext Desk. |
| Nails and screws by the pound | Cashier | A weighed item opens the scale and takes the weight. A scale label that carries the weight sells too, and a weighed item sells offline. See Selling Tracked Items and Scale labels. | The till, in every country. |
| A project kit | Cashier | A kit is a set, called a Bundle in iVendNext Desk. It is sold as one line, and each part of the kit comes off stock. To sell another kit, add it again. See Selling Tracked Items. | The till, in every country; the kit is set up in iVendNext Desk. |
| Trade customers at the trade counter | Cashier, store manager | Customers by store sets at which stores each customer group may buy, such as trade customers at the trade counter only. The customer is put on the sale at the till. See Attaching a Customer. | App library, free, in every country, on CitiXsys hosting in the United States. |
| The contractor's own prices | Cashier, buyer | A price list set as the Default Price List of the trade customer group, or of a customer, in iVendNext Desk. With the customer on the sale, the till charges that list. | The till, in every country; set up in iVendNext Desk. |
| On account, with a limit | Cashier, store manager, accounts | The till sells on account to a named customer up to the customer's credit limit, and takes the customer's payments against the balance. Payment method rules allows on account for the trade group only. See The Customer View and Balance-backed Tenders. | The till, in every country. Payment method rules: App library, free, in every country, on CitiXsys hosting in the United States. |
| The PO number on a trade sale | Cashier | Required sale details asks for the details a customer group must give before paying, such as a trade account's purchase order number; Pay is refused in your words until they are filled. | App library, free, in every country, on CitiXsys hosting in the United States. |
| Quotes and builders' projects | Cashier, trade desk | The till saves a priced basket as a quotation for a named customer and sells from it later, all of it or some of the lines. See Quotations and Fulfillment Plans. Project quotes and deliveries by stage adds the builder's project: one record for each job, named on every quotation, order, delivery and invoice of that job, with a stage on each quotation, order and delivery line and a project sheet. | The till, in every country. Project quotes and deliveries by stage: App library, free, in every country; it works in iVendNext Desk and sends nothing out. |
| Delivery to a job site, and sale here with fulfillment from another store | Cashier | The till takes a delivery order for goods too large to carry: the customer's delivery address, a delivery plan with its dates and charge, and a deposit. The same screen sells an item another store has and sends it to the customer or keeps it for collection. See Endless Aisle and Delivery. | The till, in every country. A delivery order needs a default delivery plan on the store; selling from another store needs cross-store trading on. |
| Layaway | Cashier | A deposit now and the balance later on goods the customer collects later, and split tender at the same screen. See Split Tender and Layaway. | The till, in every country. |
| Returns and store credit | Cashier, store manager | The till takes a return with the receipt, and a return without one with a manager. A refund can be paid out as store credit, which the customer spends at a later sale. See Returning With a Receipt and Returning Without a Receipt. Refund rules pays a refund back the way the sale was paid. | The till, in every country. Refund rules: App library, free, in every country. |
| The gift receipt | Cashier | The cashier chooses the lines that are gifts, and the receipt prints them with no prices. See Gift Receipts and Reprints. | The till, in every country. |
| The bin an item sits in | Cashier, floor and stock staff | Bin locations keeps each store's locations, aisles and bins and what sits in each. The till key Where is it? names the bin of each item on the sale, a shop-floor bin first. | App library, free, in every country, on CitiXsys hosting. |
| The price checker | Customer | Price-checker kiosk: a tablet on the shop floor where a customer scans an item and reads its name, picture and price. | App library, free, in every country, on CitiXsys hosting. |
| Warranty terms on tools | Back office | Warranty terms keeps the warranty period of each item or item group, in months, for a till key or a service you connect to read. The app itself adds no till screen. A power tool is also sold with its serial number, captured on the line: see Selling Tracked Items. | App library, free, in every country. It runs in your own site and sends nothing out. |
| Shelf labels | Stock team | On iVendNext Handheld, Item Lookup adds shelf labels to a print list, and receiving can add them as a receipt posts; a person with iVendNext Desk prints them, in the store's label format. See Look things up. | iVendNext Handheld comes with a key from iVendNext. |
| Receiving, counts and transfers between stores | Stock team | iVendNext Handheld receives goods, counts stock and moves stock between stores by barcode. See Receive stock, Count stock and Move stock. | iVendNext Handheld comes with a key from iVendNext. |
| Sales tax in each store | Cashier, head office | Each store is a Warehouse in iVendNext Desk with its own default Item Tax Template, which the till uses for the items that carry none of their own, so a chain with stores in two states sets each store's rate on its warehouse. See Important Retail Settings. | The till, in every country; set up in iVendNext Desk. |
| Selling when the connection drops | Cashier | The till keeps selling from the data it loaded: scanning, weighed items, serial numbers, automatic promotions and customers typed in. See Selling When the Connection Drops. | The till, in every country. |
| Your web store | Head office | The WooCommerce connection: products, prices and stock go to the web store, and paid web orders, payments and refunds come back. Click and collect gives each store its lists of web orders to pick and orders waiting for their customer in Desk. See Connections. | WooCommerce comes with a key from iVendNext, in every country. Click and collect: App library, free, in every country. |
| The chain's own ERP | Head office | Connectors to SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA, Acumatica, NetSuite and Sage X3. SAP S/4HANA is set up per project. | From iVendNext, in every country. Any other ERP is connected by a partner or your own developers. |
The rest of this page says what a partner adds.
What a partner or your own team adds
An iVendNext partner in your region, or your own developers, sets up and extends what these parts do not cover. Examples are your own price rules, print layouts for your invoices, extra reports, and links to systems not listed above. The kit has samples to copy for derived prices and for print packs. They can copy the apps and change them. See How to customize.
For the order a store is set up in, see Setting up a hardware store.
