Customer-owned loyalty

Retail Extensions · App · checked 2026-10-18

Customer-owned loyalty is your own loyalty program. You set the plans, the cash back each plan earns and the spend that reaches each plan. Your customers join, earn cash back on what they buy and move between plans by themselves. At the till, a key called Member shows the customer's plan and cash back. This page says what the app does, where its records show and what leaves your shop. The other pages of this section are Set it up, Using it every day, Troubleshooting and Removing it.

What it does

Each new customer joins your first plan. An existing customer joins at their first sale after you install the app. Customers you list as walk-in customers never join.

A sale earns cash back on what the customer bought. The app takes the sale's total and leaves out any gift card sold, recharged or paid out on the sale, with its tax. It also leaves out the goods' share of a tender discount. So a gift card earns when the customer spends it, not when they buy it. How the customer pays does not change what they earn.

A return takes back its share of the cash back. A canceled sale takes back all that is left of it.

New cash back is Pending for your return window. After the window, the app marks it Credited. Once a day, each active member moves to the plan that their spend reaches. The spend counts the sales of your spend window, 365 days by default, less their returns.

Each plan is a customer group. When a customer joins, or at the next daily move, the app sets the customer's group to their plan's group. Your promotion on that group gives the member discount.

The till key Member shows the customer's plan and discount, their cash back, and how much more spend reaches the next plan.

The app does not offer Member cash. A customer cannot spend cash back at the till. The app keeps and shows it.

What you set up first

You install the app, make a user for it and connect it. Then you add your plans and one settings record. The steps are on Set it up.

Settings

One record, titled Default, tells the app which plan a new customer joins, how long new cash back stays Pending and which currency you sell in. The app enrolls no one without it. Its fields are on Set it up.

Plans

A plan is a level of your program, such as Silver. Each plan has its own customer group, the spend that reaches it, the member discount and the cash back it earns. Its fields are on Set it up.

Where it shows

In Desk, you find each record by searching for its name. Using it every day says how to read each one.

Members

Search Desk for IVENDNEXT LYL Member. Each member is a customer in your program, with a plan and a status. See Members.

The ledger

Search Desk for IVENDNEXT LYL Ledger. Each row is one entry of cash back, for a sale, a return or a canceled sale. See The ledger.

Daily balances

Search Desk for IVENDNEXT LYL Balance. Once a day, the app writes each active member's opening, change and closing cash back. See Daily balances.

The cash-back report, the Loyalty links on a customer and the Member key at the till are on Using it every day.

What leaves your shop

The app's service runs at loyalty.ivendnext.app, hosted by CitiXsys. After the install, and when you press Connect again, your site sends the service its key from the App library, its address, the key's secret and the API key of the app's user.

With that API key, the service reads your new customers and your booked, returned and canceled sales from the registered application. It writes the members, the ledger and the daily balances, and it writes the customer group on your customers.

Each press of Member sends the sale to the service. It sends the sale's items, quantities and units, the till's store and profile, the company and currency, and the sale's reference. It also sends the cashier's user, which is their email address, and the customer on the sale, usually by name. It sends no prices or payments.

How to remove it
